MEDICAL EQUESTRIAN ASSOCIATION
The Medical Equestrian Association (MEA) was founded, as a registered charity, in 1985 with an aim of improving medical standards at equestrian events across the country. With HRH The Princess Royal its President since 1988, the MEA has grown to nearly 150 members, made up of medical professionals who provide medical services at equestrian sporting events.
The membership of the MEA comprises a variety of medical professionals, as well as a wide-ranging group of non-medical honorary members with varied and prominent roles in equestrian sport. The charity is run by elected officers from the membership. |
CHARITY AIMS:
The improvement of medical support at equestrian events, as well as giving those providing cover a voice
To provide training for members and other medical professionals in the management of equestrian accidents and related trauma
Education of medical personnel and the wider equestrian community about the hazards of equestrian sport and optimal first aid management
